Far Away Family
Because it’s free to post a moving notification here in Denmark I took the opportunity to “ping” a few family members who I think I have more or less lost contact with. Using the internet I quickly found their addresses and I wrote the postcards until I had none left. It would be nice to hear from some of them. The thing with my family is that you can say that my parents both are black sheep of the family. My mother have no contact with my grandmother and one of her sisters and my father likes the green bottles a little too much to be wanted at family gatherings.
That is why it is up to me to keep in touch with the people we never see because of my parents. They don’t care that I wish to keep contact but I am a little disappointed about my family in a way. They all knew that I was the one with the drunken father and a mother in a violent relationship. I don’t understand I wasn’t looked at as a child because what could I do? They were the grown ups and I felt more deserted.
I just hope they grab the hand I just reached them before they slip away completely. I also have a lot of cousins I haven’t seen for such a long time. I hope that a Christmas card or two will be dumping in now. Hope is all we have in the end isn’t it?
