Writing - In Hand
I am not a spammer - but I am sending out a lot of postcards and letter to my family members. I do this to keep “pinging” them - because ever since I moved here - which is as far as you get in Denmark away from my family I have noticed that it takes extra work - even with family - to stay in touch.
People don’t really feel that obligated to response to an e-mail as they do a handwritten letter and to be honest - most of my family are not too keen on any technical stuff. I like to receive letters the old fashioned way and I like to send them as well. There is nothing more personal than a handwritten letter and I hope that we in the future will not completely forget how to write in hand - but I don’t think the future looks too bright when it comes to that either (because a lot of things certainly doesn’t look too bright - but that is another story, another post - another time).
When I think about a completely normal day the amount of writing I do in hand is also very limited. I write my grocerylists and postcard - but it’s mostly when I sign something I write in hand. I don’t mind it that much - especially because I am lefthanded and always have had trouble writing without a smear!
So I suggest that we all take a day sometimes where we practise out handwriting and treasure that we are the only ones writing exactly like we do. Because a personal handwriting IS personal and because writing isn’t the same as typing.
