It is possible to find many strange charity sites out the on the web. I recently discovered this one called http://locksoflove.org. Locks Of Love donates hair pieces to children who suffers from long term medical hair loss.
The mission statement on their site:
Our mission is to return a sense of self, confidence and normalcy to children suffering from hair loss by utilizing donated ponytails to provide the highest quality hair prosthetics to financially disadvantaged children. The children receive hair prostheses free of charge or on a sliding scale, based on financial need.
They even have a recipient gallery (here) and a donor gallery (here). It’s pretty cool that hair can do such a difference in people’s life.
